WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION
In my opinion, portrait photography sessions should be fun.
I want to capture life fleeting moments, that will last you a lifetime.
Being a big kid myself has helped me so much.
I love when my clients children ask for another photo playdate with Sam I Am.
This is what to expect when you book a portrait session whether it is for an
engagement session, family photography, children photography, maternity photography, baby photography, or
newborn photography in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or anywhere in South Florida.
CHOOSING THE TIME OF THE DAY
Getting there before the actual time of the session is always a great idea, especially when there are kids involved.
The extra time lets them adapt and not feel pressured.
I usually ask parents to pick a time where their children are relaxed but energetic,
working around their feeding and nap times is best.
When shooting outdoors, the most beautiful light for portraits is usually captured early in the morning or right before sunset.
Parks and urban locations provide shaded areas that let me get the best of your pictures.
One of the benefits of shooting outdoors is that you get a different background just by moving a few feet.
It gives kids more space to run and feel free.
Most times they don’t even notice we are actually doing a photography session.
That environment lets me capture the best of what lifestyle photography is all about.
WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION
New clients always ask what should I wear to our portrait session?
I often suggest, wear an outfit that makes you feel good, fits well and is timeless; casual-dressy and most of all comfortable.
It doesn’t have to be always the matching tops and bottoms for groups, unless it is the look you are going for.
Families and Engagement sessions, make sure your colors complement each other.
Stay away from busy patterns.
Bring additional options and keep in mind for outdoors that there may not be a place to change.
Go for your best look. Have your hair and make-up done if you feel like it. Don’t overdue it.
Feel free to look on the internet, on my blog and see what you like, Pinterest has great ideas!
This is the time to be creative and plan ahead your outfits.
WHAT TO WEAR
Clothing is a key element for beautiful, timeless portraits.
I recommend simple, classic apparel that reflects your style.
Neutrals, creams and soft pastels photograph beautifully amidst the colorful outdoors backdrops.
Have fun with rich textures, layers, simple patterns, ruffles, and accessories… the possibilities are endless!
Coordinate your outfits with a palette of complementary colors for family portraits.
There are so many awesome children’s clothing brands, some of my favorites
are H&M, JCrew, Gap, Neve Hawk, Joyfolie, Jak and Peppar, and Tutu du Monde.

ON-LOCATION
Children and family portraits may be captured in the comfort of your home, or various outdoors locations
that feature natural settings or an urban cityscape.
Choosing a location that is special to your family is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your images.
I have lots of favorite locations, and am always happy to help you select the ideal setting for your shoot during your consultation.
WHAT TO BRING
I encourage you to bring along any props of your own that are personal and meaningful for your portraits.
Towards the end of the session I love to get creative with additional wardrobe/prop options, such as tutus, rain boots,
capes, dolls, swords, stuffed animals, musical instruments, favorite activity, etc. to capture your children’s genuine personalities.
